About Us
Ar. Amina Qayyum Mirza is a Principal Architect, Urban Planner, and Researcher with over three decades of professional experience. She is the Founder and Principal Architect of Office of Metropolitan Design (OMD–AE), established in Lahore in 1991. OMD is a multidisciplinary design firm delivering architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, urban design, planning, urban renewal, restoration, and project management services, with projects executed across Pakistan as well as in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Ar. Mirza has overseen complete project life cycles, from concept development to delivery, including design revisions and change management. She has led multidisciplinary project teams, managing planning, budgeting, procurement, and compliance processes, while collaborating closely with government authorities, corporate clients, NGOs, and engineering consultants. Key projects include the 240-acre ARY Laguna mixed-use housing development in DHA Gujranwala and the Corporate Tower in Garden Town, Lahore, a 19-storey energy-efficient commercial building designed in compliance with LDA bylaws and integrating sustainable design strategies to reduce energy consumption.
Her work has received national and international recognition, including IAP Design Excellence Awards, GABA International’s Best Architectural Project of the Year (South Asia), and shortlisting for the Dedalo Minosse International Prize, with exhibitions in Venice, Italy. She has also led award-winning projects for Interloop Industries, including office buildings, laboratories, allied facilities, and a sustainable eco-park and botanical garden.
Beyond professional practice, Ar. Mirza contributes to public-sector research, policy development, and pro bono initiatives related to urban spaces, healthcare infrastructure, and affordable housing. She has held leadership roles with the Institute of Architects Pakistan (IAP) and ARCASIA, co-edited Vernacular Wisdom: Asia, published and presented internationally, and continues to advocate for sustainable, inclusive, and context-responsive design.
